Power Up and Get Going
New York has set ambitious goals to increase the sales of electric vehicles (EVs) to New Yorkers, but with the exception of five downstate Tesla outlets, New Yorkers can’t buy a Tesla at retail stores upstate or out-of-state, nor can they buy EVs from other manufacturers like Rivian directly from sales locations.
The Texas blackouts: Don’t misplace blame on renewables
Texas is currently experiencing once-in-a-generation cold weather that has caused widespread blackouts across the state. Companies are working as quickly and creatively as possible to restore power to the residents and first responders bearing the burden of this anomaly, hopefully bringing an end to this hardship as soon as possible.
Renewing the Fight for Clean Energy in 2021
The new year brings an exciting and important new stage to implementation of the state’s historic Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. Passed by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Cuomo in 2019, the bill set in motion a process that could put New York in the leadership of the fight to address climate change and launch a new wave of investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

ACE NY 2020 Year-End Recap
To deliver a recap of 2020, a year without measure, is a daunting task. 2020 will be most notable for the horror of a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic (hopefully!) with New York the initial epicenter.. There was the surfacing of brutal racial injustices. At the same time, our democracy came under question, apocalyptic fires burned throughout the West, and all the while, the global climate change clock ticked-down louder and faster.
Action Needed to Achieve New York’s Clean Energy Opportunity
While we can’t yet be sure what the Biden/Harris administration’s chief priorities will be, addressing climate change and environmental justice will likely be high among them. Renewables like solar and wind are at the heart of combating climate change, and New York is setting a strong example for the rest of the country on how to use these resources.
Transportation Climate Initiative Seeks to Address Equity Concerns
Last week, ACE NY joined leading voices in health, transportation, environment, business, and clean energy to launch NY for TCI, an exciting new coalition to support the multi-state Transportation Climate Initiative. Meanwhile, one of the most controversial questions about TCI is how it could support equity and environmental justice. In response, on September 29, the Transportation and Climate Initiative held a public webinar tackling the issues of ensuring environmental justice and equity.
